Got promoted by finishing 1st in Série B last season. Are back to top flight competition after having been relegated in 2019, having finished in 19th with 32 points. Currently playing the finals of Catarinense State Championship against biggest rivals Avaí. Brought a few reserve players from Athlético PR. Geuvânio is the biggest new signing, but the truth is that he has been disappointing everywhere he went since returning to Brazil (Flamengo, Atlético MG and Athlético). Goalkeeper Keiller was brought from Internacional to replace João Ricardo; Láercio left Santos to replace Luiz Otávio at the back. Leo Gomes and Ravanelli should be important pieces in midfield. Fabinho will try to get affirmation at Série A level and return to Athlético next season. Pedro Perotti is in excellent form in 2021, having scored 14 times in the 18 games he played so far this season. Perotti has never been as important as he seems to be this year. Perotti will pair up with last season's top scorer, the experienced Anselmo Ramon. Coach Mozart has been employing a very attacking formation, 4-2-4. But it remains unknown if he'll keep the formation for the more demanding Série A.
