Promoted to Série A thanks to a 4th place in Série B last season. It was a close call as they finished only 3 points away from 5th place. This will be the first time ever that Cuiabá will play Brazilian top flight league, in any format that the competition has ever had. Club was created only 20 years ago. Reached glory this season, already, having won the State Championship in May. That shouldn't mean much for their chances at Série A, since Campeonato Mato-Grossense isn't a very competitive one. Cuiabá brought several players with experience on Série A, but were sensible enough to keep a few players from the squad that got them promoted in the first place. Centre-half Anderson Conceição and midfielders Gava and Auremir are expected to remain the leaders of the team, nonetheless. Experienced Élton is the hope for goals. Goalkeeper Walter will finally have a chance at first team after several years as Cássio's shadow in Corinthians. Marllon and Jonathan also arrive from Corinthians and will hope to relaunch their careers. Paulão was sensational at Fortaleza last season, but somehow hasn't impress at Cuiabá, yet. Youngster Camilo arrives on loan from powerfull Lyon, which gives him already a differentiated status. Clayson and Guilherme Pato are also interesting new signings, as well as the always useful Uillian Correia. Pepê from Flamengo is perhaps the most exciting new signing, though, as this seems the ideal context for him to get first team experience and return to Flamengo as a better player. Coach Alberto Valentim is looking to have in Cuiabá a chance to prove himself after the poor 2020 at Botafogo. Valentim is looking to pick where he left at Vasco in 2019 and in Botafogo in 2018.

Target

Will be over the moon if they reach a safe place in the end.
