Finished 14th last season, after a highly irregular performance during most part of the campaign. Failed to even reach the final of Baiano State Championship, a competition 'Tricolor' is usually dominant. Bahia was very active on the market with multiple new signings and departures. Luiz Otávio and Conti are interesting additions for the back; Jonas should be the replacement for Gregore in midfield, and Gustavo Custódio returns from loan with a new, improved status. Lucas Araújo, Thaciano and Thonny Anderson are all former promises from Grêmio's academy; the latter will try to prove his talent after an entire season out with injury. Oscar Ruiz is the biggest hope from all the new faces for the season. Aside Gregore, there wasn't any major departure. Ernando is an easy piece to replace at the back and Élber was losing his importance. The fans will be sad to see Thiago Andrade leave so soon, without even proving his talent for his youth club. Bahia will need to have Rodriguinho on his best form, that of last season's final rounds, and not the form he showed throughout most of the time last year. Striker Gilberto seems to be back on his fine goalscoring form, in 2021 having scored 10 goals in 16 games played before Série A starts. Coach Dado Cavalcanti will keep the 4-2-3-1 that he used in the end of last season to save Tricolores from relegation. Gilberto is the reference in attack. Rossi and Ruiz are expected to support him on the wings.

Target

Bahia will try to get away from the relegation race as soon as possible and aim for a place in top-10, in the end.
