Finished 12th last season. Timão had their 3rd consecutive poor season after their title back in 2017. Reached semi-finals of Paulista State Championship this season, losing to arch-rivals Palmeiras. Not a single new signing for the new season, yet. Only João Victor returning from a loan spell at Atlético GO. It looks like Timão will be determined to fix their finances even if that will mean another struggling season at Série A. Current squad seems quite weak. Even more than last season. Cazares was rarely impressive, but he was always a promise for something great to happen. Ederson, Everaldo and Davó were decent backup options. Corinthians' last season's weak squad seems even weaker, now. Striker Jô is in clear decline due to ageing. Cássio also seems away from his prime years. Fágner has been struggling with physical problems for some time. New coach Sylvinho arrives one week before the start of league and will be having a hard job to do. His major hopes rely on Luan and Mateus Vital finally playing on the level they played a few seasons ago at Grêmio and Vasco, respectively. The back-3 (if Sylvinho keeps this formation) looks strong with João Victor, Jemerson and Gil, while Lucas Piton is expected to have his affirmation as left wing-back. However, all other areas look fragile both in depth and in quality.

Target

It won't be a surprise to see the big club involved in the relegation struggle, unless the board finally starts spending some money, after the new coach arrived.
