Doncaster had an excellent campaign last time around; having managed to make the play-offs, only to end up losing on penalties to eventual winners Charlton. It was a refreshing change for the Rovers following several years of midtable mediocrity and a relegation to League Two, but their success did not go unnoticed, as their manager Grant McCann was tempted away by Hull during the summer. Moreover, several important players have also left. Mallik Wilks and Herbie Kane both played key roles but are now back with their parent clubs, while the likes of Paul Downing, Andy Butler, Danny Andrew and Tommy Rowe are all also among those who have left. McCann's replacement is Darren Moore, who has it all to prove after not lasting long at WBA last season in what was his first managerial job. Moore is yet to really stamp his mark on the side, as only three players have signed so far in Brad Halliday, Madger Gomes and Reece James. The current state of Doncaster's squad leaves a lot to be desired, especially in terms of numbers. However, chances that they will not sign any players over the coming weeks are close to zero. According to Moore, he knows the player he wants and expects his men to be well-equipped for the new season.

Target

Ideally, they will want to repeat last season's finish and make the play-offs; but a top ten finish would be seen as a decent enough achievement.
