A strong campaign saw Dundee finish in 2nd place in the Championship and confidently win the play offs against Kilmarnock. A solid core led by experienced midfielder Adam helped to grind out solid results consistently. A tough squad that has largely stayed together over the summer should be competitive at a higher level, and a handful of solid signings give boosts in key areas. But the team lacks flair and could struggle against some more solid defences. Forward line could be a big issue, with top scorer Sow departing, and a lack of goals from elsewhere in the team to support star man Cummings. New strikers McCowan, McMullan and Sheridan all have potential to do well, with Sherdian a particular one to watch. Signs for the new campaign are positive, with excellent wins over strong opposition like West Ham and Leyton Orient, as well as impressive wins in League Cup games where squad has rotated nicely. Big derby games against nearby rivals Dundee United present a strong incentive for glory and results in those games could define the season. Captain Adam's performances will be key to a strong campaign, but the ageing midfielder may struggle to remain fit throughout a tough top flight campaign.

Target

8th. Avoiding the danger zone comfortably should be the main priority. But reaching the top 6 could be difficult among an increasingly competitive mid table.
