Marquee signing Luciano Acosta didn’t prove to be a good fit as Dallas suffered a slump of just one win in 11 games last summer. His departure was followed by a solid run that allowed the team to finish seventh in the West. Yet, they were eliminated at the hands of a strong Vancouver side in the first playoff round. Goalkeeper Maarten Paes has been the only notable departure, but Michael Collodi’s form in the last stretch of 2025 gives Dallas hope that the youngster could step up in goal. The club signed a few players to add depth, with right wingback Herman Johansson being the only one who’s expected to become a mainstay in the first XI. Hence, Dallas have kept their spine intact but haven’t really strengthened their squad, which lacks quality in defence and behind the striker. Having established a back three, Eric Quill is expected to rely on Bernard Kamungo and Johansson as his starting wingbacks – a very important position in Dallas’ system. Dallas boast one of MLS’ most clinical finishers in Petar Musa, who recorded 18 goals and six assists last season. Should his supporting cast steps up, the attack would definitely be the team’s main strength. Meanwhile, the centre-back position remains a big hole. They do boast depth with five players competing for three spots but they lack quality and consistency.

Target

Taking into account that teams in the West are becoming stronger, competing for a play-in spot should be a realistic target for Dallas.
