Won just four home games and finished 11th in the East - 17 points behind the last play-in spot. A poor start to the season was followed by a run of six wins in seven games in late spring, but the Revs managed just four victories in their last 25 games to miss out on postseason. New England kept their backbone intact and bolstered their squad with the signing of midfielder Brooklyn Raines, while winger Griffin Yow came to replace an inconsistent Tomás Chancalay. Defensive cover arrived in the form of Ethan Kohler, capable of operating at centre-back and right-back. Yet, none of these arrivals are expected to take the team to another level. Friction with some players and poor team performances in 2025 led to New England parting ways with Caleb Porter, who has been replaced by former USMNT youth coach Marko Mitrovic. He boasts a versatile squad that includes two strong full-backs and centre-backs who have played both in a back four and back three, allowing him to experiment with different formations depending on the game. Carles Gil demonstrated last season why he’s considered one of the finest attacking midfielders in the league by recording 10 goals and as many assists in 34 games. Meanwhile, in Matt Turner they have one of the best and most experienced goalkeepers in the MLS. Yet, they lack depth on the wings behind Yow and record signing Luca Langoni, who failed to impress in his first season. Should the two Revs wingers not deliver this term, New England will struggle to produce in the final third.

Target

Stay in the race for a play-in spot until the last stretch of the season. We should expect a rebuild year from the Revs under a coach who could focus on developing young players.
