LAFC didn’t go as far as they hoped to in 2025. Finished only 3rd in the West. Won only half (17) of their regular season games D9 L8. Their run ended in the Conference Semis when they lost on penalties vs Vancouver. After this relatively disappointing year coach Cherundolo decided to end his 3-year stay at the helm. Yet to appoint an official replacement. Not in any hurry to do so with 17 different coaches applying for the vacancy. Expect to announce the new manager before week 1. Promise to have one of the best attacks in 2026. Bouanga had 24 goals in 2025 and this is 3rd year in a row for him with 20+ goals in the MLS. Since laqsat September his main partner in attack was Heung-min Son. The legendary Korean quickly amassed 10 goals in 10 appearances and going forward this duo should be causing havoc almost every time. Had the 2nd best defence in the Conference last year and this is not likely to change. The entire starting back line and GK Lloris are still there so continuity in this area can be expected. Retained their main midfielders Jesus, Tillman, Delgado and Choinière. Replaced the supporting cast in this zone though. Despite the managerial uncertainty LAFC look very well balanced. There is good depth for every position on the pitch too so no matter who is in charge the only goal will be to challenge for top spots.
