Twente finished last season in 10th position. Thanks to an excellent league start, they gave the impression that they could finish high up the table, but the last part of the season was so bad that it erased the good done just a few months earlier from people's memories. Their performance went hand in hand with that Danilo, on loan from Ajax. While he scored in almost every game things were going well, but when he had a resounding decline, the whole team sank too. Coach Ron Jans was unable to rectify the situation and he stubbornly persevered with the same system of play and players. From this point of view, perhaps it is better that Danilo this summer returned to Ajax, at least now the whole game will not revolve around him and they will have to find other solutions in attack. In addition to the Brazilian, at the moment there have been no other important transfers out, only the exchange of goalkeepers, already formalized last season, with PSV Eindhoven, with Lars Unnerstall coming in for Drommel As for the new faces, there have been no changes in midfield, while three experienced forwards have been purchased, Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Basel, former Ajax Jody Lukoki and Virgil Misidjan who did not do very well with PEC Zwolle last year. In defense, right-back Giovanni Troupée comes into the role in which the team had long been open, and strong centre-back Robin Pröpper, who will surely be missed in Almelo.

Target

Twente is an ambitious team that will certainly aim to finish next season in the top 5, more realistically they will fight again for a spot in the playoffs, much will depend on the contribution of the two main attackers, Menig and Cerny.
