PEC Zwolle come from what could be viewed as a positive season with a 13th place, in line with the expectations and the value of the team. The greatest satisfaction was that of never being really involved in the relegation struggle. The players were also very good at reacting to a particularly unfortunate season among the many mistakes of the club, which removed coach Stegeman despite the decent results, and the confusion that ensued, with different coaches taking turns on the bench, and above all Covid-19 which in the final part of the season literally decimated the squad. During the summer the most significant change came on the bench, where finally they have Art Langeler, who, already contacted last winter, could not until now take up the offer as he was tied to the federation. Among the players there were some significant goodbyes, not least the Finnish central defender Thomas Lam, the undisputed leader of the defense despite some disappointing performances in the last year, but also the two main central strikers, Reza and Van Duinen. The attacking midfielder Jesper Drost, often in the starting eleven, also left, but above all there was a significant change between the posts, Xavier Mous moved to Heerenveen and has been well replaced by Kostas Lamprou, coming from an excellent season at RKC Waalwijk. At the moment the roster doesn’t seem complete, as there’s a clear lack of attackers. Coach Langeler should line-up the squad with a 4-2-3-1 system, with Van Polen and Kersten in the middle of defense, Paal on the left and Van Wermeskerken (when back from injury) on the right. Probably Strieder and Huiberts in front of the defense, while Clement, Saymak and new arrival Kastaneer to support the only forward Tedic.
