Vitesse are coming from an amazing season, well above the rosiest expectations. They finished in 4th place, overtaking much more accredited teams such as Feyenoord and Utrecht, and therefore reached a historic qualification for the preliminary rounds of the new Conference League. The main architect of the success was certainly German coach Thomas Letsch who set up the team with a 5-3-2, a little known and used system in the Netherlands, against which the opponents often failed to find counter moves. So far in the summer transfer market there have been no significant changes. The good thing is that they managed to keep some of the most important players, above all the talented midfielder, turned central defender, Riechedly Bazoer who, together with Danilho Doekhi and Jacob Rasmussen, formed one of the best defenses of the entire Eredivisie. Same thing in midfield where Matus Bero, Sondre Tronstad and Oussama Tannane formed a trio of complete and well-matched midfielders. Perhaps something is still missing in attack, where Darfalou and Openda do not guarantee a large number of goals. They were joined by a couple of young proming players Von Moos and Frederiksen who, however, are yet to be evaluated on the pitch. The biggest change occurred between the posts where the experienced and reliable Remko Pasveer moved to Ajax. In his place came the German Markus Schubert from Schalke 04.

Target

Not having made many changes and having the same coach Vitesse can hope to repeat the extraordinary last season, but it will not be easy at all overtake Feyenoord again in the table.
