Football Season Guide

Forfar suffered automatic relegation to League Two after a disastrous season that saw 13 defeats in their 22 matches. At one point they were in touch with Clyde and Dumbarton in their relegation fight, but despite winning 2 of their last 3 matches they finished 10th and 8 points adrift of Dumbarton and manager Stuart Malcolm resigned. Falling into League Two has sparked an exodus with at least 14 players moving on. Roberto Nditi has stepped up to the Championship with Queen of the South. Jordan Allan (Airdrie) and Chris Antoniazzi (Montrose) remain in League One. Regular starters Coll and MacKintosh have also left along with top scorer Fenwick. Freshening up the squad are Albion Rovers’ top scorer Matty Aitken and midfielder Craig Slater from Queen’s Park. Midfielder Craig Thomson has also signed after a solid season at Airdrie. Crossan and McCluskey have also arrived from Dumbarton to provide more attacking options. These players provide some quality and experience to bolster Forfar’s squad. With some quality added to their midfield and attack, Forfar are hoping to bounce straight back up to League One. Gary Irvine with 18 appearances last season has taken charge but is yet to decide if he will continue playing. Their weak defence remains a major problem.
