Nurnberg’s decline was again evident last season and it almost resulted in relegation to the third tier. The Club managed to do enough to keep their heads above water despite a disruptive campaign that saw three different managers in charge. Cristian Fiel has been given the responsibility of being the new head coach for the coming season after making an impression with the U23’s side. Fiel has his work cut out to bring smiles back to the faces of the long-suffering supporters but is well respected within the club. Striker Duah has left to join Ludogorets and although he wasn’t prolific in front of goal, he did finish top-scorer in a poor offensive team last season. Nurnberg could again struggle in front of goal unless new Japanese loan-signing Hayashi can hit the ground running. The Club have tried to address their lack of width with the signing of another Japanese international, Okunuki, and English winger Hungbo from Watford, this could help to make them more of a threat in attack.

Target


The expectations are high due to the history of the club but small steps forward are more realistic for Nurnberg. There should be improvements and anything other than a top-half finish will be seen as a disappointment.
