Wehen Wiesbaden earnt promotion back to the second division after three years away. Coach Kauczinski’s side missed out on automatic promotion after finishing fourth but achieved it via the play-off with an impressive 6-1 aggregate victory over Arminia Bielefeld. During the summer the club lost have lost key players at both ends of the pitch. Promising Left-back Ezeh has joined Hannover while exciting forward Hollerbach has made a big step up in signing for Union Berlin. Centre-back Gurleyen has also moved on and theses losses will no doubt have an impact. Attacker Prtajin does remain at the club and that is certainly a positive after his 15 goals and seven assists last season. New-boy Jonjic and Iredale are also good options in attack. Batzner from KV Oostende and Hyun-ju Lee on loan from Bayern are also expected to make an impact. Both are attacking midfield players so Wiesbaden shouldn’t be shy of a goal or two. The forward-thinking approach from boss Kauczinski will naturally raise concerns about the side defensively but there is still plenty of experience in defensive midfield areas with Taffershoter and Jacobsen.

Target

Wiesbaden appear to be slightly better equipped this time around so the target of staying in the division is certainly a possibility. A positive start and keeping their best players fit will be the key to their progress.
