Welling are newcomers in the Conference Premier and are team that has it all to do in their bid to establish themselves as a team worthy of a place in the division. The Reds had a brilliant campaign in the Conference South last season when they were unstoppable in the second half of the season and claimed the league title in a highly impressive manner, at one point winning 12 games in a row in the league. Jamie Day has been building a good side for the last few years and having lost to Dartford in a play-off final in the previous year, the Wings managed to complete the journey and will be full of enthusiasm and belief that they can do well in the new division. The signing of new players has been overall limited so far in the summer and generally Day looked to keep the balance from the previous season. The one key departure was that of important defender Anthony Acheampong who rejected a new deal to join Barnet. However, promising striker Ross Lafayette is staying up and Joe Healy will remain with the side too. Out of the new recruits, Loick Pires is back in the team after one poor season at Woking where he failed to excel at this level. Doug Bergqvist and Blaine Hudson will boost the defence while Alex Dyer and former Arsenal youngster Callum Webb will surely lift the quality of the midfield. Thus, Welling have the ingredients to compete well in the division and may well be this season's surprise package, surpassing expectations and doing well after initial adjustment - something that teams from the Conference South that got promoted have definitely done in recent seasons.

Target

The squad modest in quality but the unity developed in the promotion season along with the momentum should see them at least beat relegation with something to spare.
