Arsenal had a superb 2023/24 campaign in which they recorded a club record of 28 Premier League wins. Despite boasting the best defence in the league with 29 goals conceded, the Gunners didn’t manage to go all the way to the title, finishing second just a couple of points behind champions Manchester City. Their points tally of 89 would have been good enough to win it in 15 previous seasons. All their starters have stayed put, meaning that Arsenal don’t need to be particularly active in the summer transfer window. Talented centre-back Riccardo Calafiori joined from Bologna to add depth to the defence, but Arsenal may also sign a striker and a midfielder. Arsenal’s backbone has been kept intact and Mikel Arteta’s main advantage is that the majority of his players have now experienced two titles races in which they competed until the end for the race. The Gunners do not lack quality – their main issue is that Manchester City looked unbeatable over the last four years. Their main strength is the chemistry of this side, as the majority of the first-choice players have been playing together under Arteta for the last two years. Consistency may be the key to success. Meanwhile, there’s no obvious weaknesses in this side. Some may argue that squad depth may have cost them the title, but with another one or two arrivals the team will be provided with extra solutions.
