Stadium	Real Valladolid’s Estadio José Zorrilla was built for the 1982 World Cup and hosted several group stage matches during the tournament. Since then, it has been home to the club and to many major events in the region of Castile and León. A lot of work has been done at the ground in recent times to close off corners and to build the stands to similar heights. Work still needs to be completed as part of this Valladolid Arena project, with the capacity expected to increase from the current 28,000 to 40,000.
Recent History	Real Valladolid have fluctuated between the first and second tiers of the Spanish footballing pyramid. After four seasons in a row in the second division, they won promotion back to LaLiga in 2018 and are currently competing in the top flight. There was great excitement around the club in the autumn of 2018 when Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazário purchased the club and became their president. There was an expectation that he would splash some cash or bring in young Brazilian talent, but this hasn’t really happened and Real Valladolid remain a club that is trying to live within its means. Logically, this means they’ve been fighting it out towards the bottom of the LaLiga table.

Going unbeaten since March allowed yo-yo club Real Valladolid to secure promotion on the final day meant a return at the first time of asking, meaning they have been relegated or promoted in each of the last four seasons. There have been some high-profile departures, namely in veteran goalkeeper Jordi Masip, defender Sergio Escudero and midfielder Monchu. All three have experience in the first division and played a pivotal role last season, but will not be at Valladolid for the 2024/25 campaign. Despite that, it's true that the club moved early to secure several signings before the team started pre-season training, giving them time to settle in. Uruguayan coach Paulo Pezzolano continues to be hugely unpopular with fans, not aided by his mocking of fans in the promotion celebrations after the end of last season. That uncertainty could prove difficult for a club which has been put up for sale and then taken off the market again. This team's strength will come down the flanks, where the likes of Raul Moro, Stipe Buik and Amath Ndiaye will torment full-backs across LaLiga. Home form will be important for Valladolid given that they start the season with their first two away trips taking them to Real Madrid and Barcelona, in their hunt for survival.
