Football Season Review

№11: Hoffenheim

The enigma of the Bundesliga has to be Hoffenheim. They are now just a shadow of that flamboyant outfit of a couple of seasons ago, but are capable of springing a surprise or two, as Schalke and even Dortmund would vouch for. Indeed, they are the only team in the league that the Champions from Dortmund failed to beat, either home or away. However, with the departure of many top players such as Demba Ba, there was never going to be any real consistency in Hoffenheim. Moreover, the departure of their team coach to Schalke didn’t help matters either at a crucial stage of the season. Goals were often hard to come by as can be appreciated on noting former Bundesliga top scorer Ibisevic´s tally of just 8 goals in 31 appearances. Indeed, Sigurdsson was their top scorer on this occasion. With the likes of Luis Gustavo who moved to Bayern Munich and Demba Ba who went to West Ham now out of the equation, who knows what fate awaits Hoffenheim next season.
