The big news for Wimbledon going into the new season is that they are close to moving to the new Plough Lane stadium, which would see them move close to where the old Wimbledon club played their games until 1991, when the ground was demolished. This is of huge importance to their fans, as a return to what they call their "spiritual home" would be another major boost for the Dons, who were re-formed and started their journey up the divisions not that long ago. The mental boost from the impending return home could be a necessity for the Dons, who narrowly managed to escape the drop last season and do not look all that great in terms of squad quality. They lost a couple of fairly important players in Mitch Pinnock and Rod McDonald, while another blow is the departure of Dylan Connolly, who leaves without ever really fulfilling his potential at the club, having played well only in flashes. The likes of Alex Woodyward, Ollie Palmer, Jaako Oksanen and Connal Trueman are all among the summer signings that are expected to become regular starters, as the Dons squad looks to be on a similar level compared to their last season's one. Whether or not this will be enough to beat the drop, remains to be seen.

Target

The Dons will be pleased for as long as they manage to stay away from trouble.
