Eintracht Frankfurt came very close to secure their first ever Champions League qualification spot last season only to fall just short right at the death as they had to settle for a fifth place finish, one point short of the fourth place. Frankfurt have suffered major setbacks over the summer starting with the departure of coach Adi Hutter who has been signed up by Borussia Monchengladbach. They have also seen top scorer Andre Silva leave, with the striker being sold to RB Leipzig while also failing to convert loan move of Luka Jovic into a permanent transfer. Frederik Ronnow, Dejan Joveljic, Jetro Willems and Markus Schubert have also left the club, leaving Frankfurt a bit light with regards to squad depth. Frankfurt have brought in Oliver Glasner to replace Hutter but have struggled in the transfer market and have been largely limited to free transfers. Jesper Lindstrom has been their biggest acquisition so far but the Eagles have not been able to replace Silva and Jovic upfront, with Gonçalo Paciencia returning from his loan deal and a free transfer of Rafael Santos Borre boosting the squad depth in the final third. Lack of investment could prove to be a major stumbling block for Frankfurt who will need to be at the very best if they are to come anywhere close to repeating their successful campaign from last season.

Target

Will be hoping to challenge for a European qualification spot though a place in the top half seems to be a more realistic target this season
