Hertha were disappointing last season, only securing their status in the division with a few weeks remaining. Manager Dardai was brought back to the club at the beginning of January to steady the sinking ship and he managed to do so. He will now look to build for the coming season, in order to get Hertha up the table. There has been no lack of funds at the club over the last few years but the recruitment process hasn't really worked, lots of talented individuals have come in but the team ethic has been missing. Dardai has looked more towards the older player over the summer. Midfielder Boateng and striker Jovetic have been brought in and will bring a vast amount of experience at the top level, whether they can be consistent anymore, remains to be seen. Midfielder Serdar is a good capture from Schalke and could be a key figure this season. It will also be intriguing to see the progress of Selke after his return from Bremen. Dardai will be hoping the striker can compensate for the loss of Cordoba, who left for Krasnodor. You would expect Hertha to be well drilled under Dardai this season, they are likely to be a lot more difficult to beat and could spring a surprise or two. The worry for Hertha is the expectation of the team to do well, this could lay heavy on the players and a few bad results may see the fans turn on them.
