Mouscron had a pretty mixed and at times strange season last year as they developed nicely after a dire start and had a phenomenal run of form early in 2019 before fizzling out quite badly by the end. Bernd Strock declined the chance to stay on as a manager and another German in Bernd Hollerbach, who was a Hamburg SV manager back in the day, takes over from this season on. It is another summer of major changes in the squad as a few important players on loan returned to their clubs and some other integral squad members departed as well. Mouscron at least managed to bring back Marko Bakic on a permanent deal from Braga and he will look to develop further after a very good season. Yet the squad looks pretty light in numbers and it remains to be seen how the new-look attack will shape up with Sami Allagui and the young Jonah Osabutey. Overall, there are still too many question marks regarding the actual level of this Mouscron team and it remains to be seen whether they are capable of the heights from last season with a new coach on board.

Beating the drop is the natural aim for a team with limited resources and constant turnover.
