St.Gallen have had a rather disappointing 2018/19 season, as they started it superbly well but faded over time and ended up missing out on a European place. The Green-Whites produced several entertaining, high-scoring games, but always lacked consistency, while being rather poor in the second half of the season and even flirting with relegation at a point. Their lack of momentum is enough of a reason to worry going into the new season, but what makes things even worse is the list of players to have left. Two standout performers are no longer at the club in Vincent Sierro and Majeed Ashimeru, while veteran Tranquillo Barnetta, who had several match-winning performances, has ended his career. To make things worse, the list of players to have joined is underwhelming. Vincent Ruefli is a well-known Super League player, as is Moreno Costanzo, but there are big question marks over the latter after he returned from a long-term injury in the second half of the previous campaign. All in all, the Green-Whites certainly look weaker than they were last time around and, given their lack of summer spending, look set for a difficult campaign.

Target

Given the difficult summer transfer window they have had, the Green-Whites would be pleased to stay away from danger and end inside the midtable places.
