Jerv pulled off a quite miraculous promotion at the end of last season as they managed to upstage a massive team like Brann away from home in a one-legged play-off, somehow getting over the disappointment of conceding numerous equaliser in a 4:4 draw before prevailing on penalties. It capped a season that saw the Yellow and Blues punch above their weight consistently, as they maintained a solid position in the top three despite having a modest squad, and are therefore promoted for a first time in their history. Jerv are now going to face some massive teams in the coming months and are by some distance the smallest club in the division in terms of support, resources and salary budget. Yet they have a long-serving coach, Arne Sandstö, who knows how to get results and has full confidence of the squad. He has seen some big players leave during the market season in experienced Argentina Pibe Pereira and prolific winger Diego Campos but will hope to have found enough decent new players that will give the squad a chance in the upcoming challenging season. Bringing in wide players Rodney, Amadou Diallo and Amir Samsir gives the Jerv squad some real speedy and flexibility in terms of the systems that they can play, changing from 3-4-3 to 4-3-3 while players Erik Brenden and Amund Wichne have some top-flight experience and can be important additions too. Nevertheless, the squad does look a notch below most of the other likely relegation battlers this season and the Jerv fans should enjoy the experience without really expecting anything else but a return to the second division.
