Many expected Kalmar to struggle in 2023 after their loved manager left to take charge of Malmo and several of the best players from year earlier also departed. The Reds defied the odds though and they stayed inside the top 10 all season. In the end finished 6th with W13 D6 L11 record. Henrik Jensen proved to a success as a head coach in his first year in charge. Kalmar’s ability to win points at home was decisive for that. The Reds had the fourth-best home record in the league last season. The squad had to be rebuilt this winter again though. Long-serving goalkeeper Friedrich was 1 of 4 regulars that are no longer in the ranks. Kalmar have been conservative in their signings so far, only 5 new players have joined in. That said all of the 5 newcomers have the potential to become regular starters so the winter business is seen as a success. If Kalmar can maintain their solid home form all year in 2024 and they find a way to improve on the modest 35 goals scored in 30 games record from last season they will enjoy another successful campaign this year. The right steps to try and improve the forward actions were made for sure as all of the new signings in attack Magashy, Ring and Islamovic are projected to be an upgrade on what Kalmar had at their disposal in 2023.

Target

Another top-8 finish is the ultimate goal. Unlikely to challenge for the medals.
