Djurgarden had a decent 2023 and they finished it with a W15 D5 L10 record. This was enough for 4th place in the final standings. That said finishing 14 points behind the top 2 sides wasn’t very encouraging. The main issues for Djurgarden last season were in attack. They scored only 41 goals in 30 rounds. There were 6 teams that scored more goals. Defensively things were pretty solid though. None of the players that left the team during the off-season was projected to start too much this year. At the same time, Djurgarden added some experience to their ranks and strengthened in attack. Veteran playmaker Ekdal and versatile wingers Gulliksen and Therkildsen are expected to improve the chance-creation stats. On paper Djurgarden have the squad to even challenge for the title in 2024. There are still concerns if between them the new striker Hümmet and the signed only last summer Qurbanli will score enough goals though. Based on the form shown during the impressive Svenska Cupen run in February-March (W4 D0 L0 on 12:1 goal difference) Djurgarden will have the firepower to compete for the medals this season. Can they sustain that form and for how long is the big question.
