Vasteras won promotion to the top flight convincingly last season. They were the champions of the Superettan and finished 6 points above the team in second place. They won 19 of their 30 matches, lost just 5 times, and conceded only 24 goals on way to their return to the top flight for the first time since 1997. Vasteras undoubtedly lack experience at the top level and they have struggled adding such players to their ranks so far. Most of the signings made this winter are young players unproven at top level, or without any previous Allsvenskan experience. Still, the likes of Ahllinvi and Offia are expected to become regular starters in midfield and improve the creativity in this area. This will be needed as the team’s main playmaker last season Ask left the club this winter. Abdihakim Ali scored 14 league goals in 2023 but he has zero top flight experience and it will be curious to see if he can remain as effective this season. In defence the big uniting figure is centre-back Nsabiyumva, while captain Johansson is one of the few players with rich top flight experience and he will have to lead by example all season.
