Football Season Guide

Bounced back to the top flight at the first attempt after relegation the season before. The team started poorly but after a mid season change of manager, they finished strongly. The squad played well under new manager McInnes. They were strong in defence, conceding only 27 goals. Kilmarnock have kept the bulk of their title-winning squad together. But they have made a small number of key additions to help them compete with strong opposition. Jordan Jones and Alan Power are key additions, both adding quality in midfield. Wright, Mayo and Alebiosu add depth in defence. Pre-season has been promising with good results against tough opposition and some strong signings made. Killie can be hopeful of a successful season after assembling a solid core and adding to it steadily. The squad is confident under an experienced management team. The team is confident and work well together as a unit. There is plenty of depth to cover for potential injuries and rotate the squad. Several very experienced players help to provide a solid core. But Kilmarnock are still a little light up front. Outside of main forwards Shaw and Lafferty, they lack attacking strength and they failed to sign any strikers over the summer so far.
