Despite losing the title to Celtic, it was an overall good season for Rangers. The team started a little slowly but showed good improvement under Giovanni van Bronckhorst. But winning the Scottish Cup and making the finals of the Europa League were both major achievements. The summer transfer window has seen plenty of changes for Rangers. Most notably, defender Bassey and midfielder Aribo have departed. But quality additions like Souttar, Colak, Matondo and Tillman should provide ample replacement. Rangers look strong going into the new season. They are playing well under van Brockhorst and new signings are already impressing. The club seem well-placed to make a serious title challenge and continue impressing in the cups. The squad is very strong in midfield. The likes of Kamara, Jack and Lundstram add a core of quality. The spine of the side is versatile and strong. The forward line is also good, including players like Morelos and Colak. The main weakness often lies in defence. While the starting back line is strong, there is a slight lack of depth. A few key injuries could leave the squad struggling to deal with league and cup campaigns. Two ageing goalkeepers could also be an area of concern.

Target

1st. Rangers need to improve on last season's promising signs and get ahead of Celtic.
