Last campaign was a mixed one for St Mirren. They started poorly but soon picked up and seemed on course for a top 6 finish. But manager Goodwin departed for Aberdeen, leaving the club in turmoil. New manager Robinson failed to hit form and the team had to work hard to avoid relegation. Summer has seen plenty of transfer action. Key departures include goalkeeper Alnwick, one of last season's top performers. Power and McCarthy are other major losses. Robinson has stamped his identity on the squad with several familiar players. New signings Ayunga, Carson and O'Hara have all played under him before. Each one adds quality, while Australian midfielder Baccus could be a big signing. Pre-season has been poor and St Mirren are already out of the cup. They have looked a little weak up front and lacking in creativity and pace across the pitch. Fans seem to be losing confidence in the manager and it could be another difficult season. St Mirren are strong at the back. They boast some important defenders, like Shaughnessy and Tanser. They have plenty of physical strength and good tactical awareness. A lack of attacking talent could cause issues. St Mirren struggled to score goals last season. Despite the addition of Ayunga, there is little sign of that changing.

Target

6th. Initial goal will be to make the top 6 despite a poor pre-season campaign.
