The Club has been making steady progress in the past few years and finished in 8th position last campaign. There was even talk of promotion at several stages during the 2021/22 season but results dipped in the final stretch and they eventually fell adrift of their challengers. There has been no doubt that young coach Robert Klauß has the backing of the board, as he begins his third season in charge, however, there is now an expectation of them staking a real claim for promotion, so the pressure could build if results don’t go their way early on. Nurnberg has recruited well during the summer but may need a few more additions before the window closes. Jan Gyamerah is a good replacement at right-back for Killian Fischer, who left to join Wolfsburg. Erik Wekesser is also a shrewd signing at left-back. The Club struggled to score goals in the last campaign, especially from their front men, they have moved to address this with the signing of Christof Daferner, a proven goalscorer at this level. Manuel Wintzheimer also joins from Hamburger and has the potential to add goals. Their area of weakness could be on the flanks where they lack out and out wingers, they could also look to add another central midfielder after the departure of Tom Krauß, who returned to RB Leipzig after a successful loan spell.

Target

Nurnberg should have plenty of overall balance in the squad for the coming season and will be a tough team to beat, if they can improve in breaking teams down who like to defend, then you fancy them for a promotion push.
