Paderborn finished a respectable seventh last season after a strong start and finish to the campaign. Their dip in form between December and March ultimately killed any chance of promotion but that would have been a long shot anyway due to the quality of opposition in the division. It has been a busy summer for Paderborn with many incomings and outgoings at the club. One man who has stuck around is Coach Lukas Kwasniok, a manager who keeps his cards close to his chest, with regular changes to his starting line-up and formation. The club has brought in eleven new faces to the squad in the summer, among those are experienced Liga 2 players Robin Bormuth and Robert Leipertz. Kwasniok has looked to strengthen in the defensive area the most, with Polish centre-back Adrian Gryszkiewicz a notable addition, while Jasper van der Werff has signed on a permanent deal. There have been departures in the aforementioned area with Robin Yalcin, Marcel Correia, Jamilu Collins, and Frederik Ananou all moving on so new personnel were needed. Kai Proger and Maximilian Thalhammer have also left so it could take some time for the new-look squad to gel. You would expect more of the same from Paderborn this season, especially in terms of their counter-attacking style of play. This worked wonders on the road last season but a focus will be made on improving at home, where they were poor last campaign.

Target

Promotion - Paderborn should not be written off as promotion contenders, there is strength-in-depth and plenty of quality in the ranks, a decent start and overall consistency will be the deciding factor.
