Schalke were a solid and consistent outfit under coach Miron Muslic last season, winning the second division and regaining their rightful place in the top tier. Muslic has kept the core of his squad for the upcoming season whilst adding extra quality to be able to compete at this level. Schalke’s main strength last season was in defence so not much was needed in this area, however, Wober will add top level experience providing he can stay fit. Versatile winger Ebimbe is an exciting addition to the side, his attacking ability is undeniable but consistency in performances is the only question mark. Gosens is a quality addition to the left side and his leadership and experience will be a valuable asset. Tanaka should add some control to the midfield while Adamu is an extra option in attack, not prolific in front of goal but works hard to create space. Schalke are likely to remain organised and hard to beat under Muslic, but also have enough quality in attack to hit teams on the counter. There are still some concerns over strength in depth if injuries hit so a few more additions to the side could be needed.

Target

Survival - In order to keep moving forwards, the main aim for Schalke this season is to stay up, they certainly have the coach and squad to achieve this.
