Football Season Guide

Oss never managed to get any sort of traction last season and spent it in the lower section of the table for the most part, even if they did get better as the season went on and lost just two of their last 12 games. There is a new manager this season though as Belgian Bob Peeters takes over from Kees Wiels and will look to stamp his mark on the squad and make them more competitive and entertaining to watch. The squad has not exactly been replenished with talent so far in the summer and most of the new additions are players of very little first-team experience. Oss also waved goodbye to a few pretty established players who have carried them in the past few seasons in Olivier and Philippe Rommens, goalie Bo Geens and wide forward Cas Peters. There are certainly more additions to come in the next few weeks but Peeters will need to roll his sleeves and coach this young squad to make them more than sum of their parts. They still have players to build on as Justin Mathieu is a pretty good winger at this level while Lion Kaak, Rick Stuy van den Herik and Jan Lammers are dependable defensive players. As with most teams in the league, Oss' main worry is where the goals will come from as they look ligthweigth in the final third and may struggle to hold their own against teams with more firepower and quality across the squad. As a whole, it is hard to see Oss making a push for the play-offs but they have the core of a decent side and a few additions may easily elevate them.
