Coventry exceeded many people’s expectations last season in challenging for a top six place for most of the campaign. They ultimately missed out on the playoffs, eventually finishing 12th but there were many positives to take. It has been a quiet close season so far for the Sky Blues which in a lot of ways is a good thing for them. So many of their players impressed last season, such as striker Gyokeres, midfielder Hamer and playmaker O’Hare, that some key departures were expected but so far the majority of their 2021/22 squad remains intact. The only notable losses are that of centre-back Clarke-Salter and wing-back Maatsen after their loan spells ended. There haven’t been any real notable signings as yet either. Palmer didn’t get much chance at Bristol City last season but has excellent natural ability. Young centre-backs Panzo and Doyle have joined on loan. The main worry for Coventry is that they took sides by surprise with their energetic, enterprising style last season but will this happen again this time around. The Sky Blues had a disappointing end to the campaign with only two wins in their last 10 matches. Factors in the Sky Blues favour include the nous of experienced boss Mark Robins and the return to full fitness of potent striker Godden.

Target

Will be targeting the playoffs but tough to see them making it after they performed so brilliantly last season but didn't make the top six.
