Last season saw Millwall occupy mid-table for the whole of the campaign. An excellent run from February onwards almost saw them sneak into the playoff places but in the end they finished 9th. The summer transfer window has so far seen the significant departure of key playmaker Jed Wallace. He was a talismanic figure for the Lions last season, weighing in with six goals and 12 assists. Valuable centre-back Ballard has also departed after the expiry of his loan from Arsenal. In terms of incomings the Lions have sealed a permanent deal for Afobe after the powerful forward impressed during a loan spell at the club last season, making 38 league appearances and scoring 12 goals. Hardworking midfielder Honeyman has also joined from Hull. Cresswell looks like a straight replacement for Ballard, another young talented centre-back. The most interesting acquisition could be that of Flemming. A young attacking midfielder who has impressed in the Dutch top flight over the last two seasons. Expect another solid season from the Lions. They have a squad full of experienced Championship campaigners. Again they should be tough to beat at home, they had the third best home record in 2021/22. With Wallace gone they may be missing the X factor to push them into the playoff race.
