Fortaleza had a very good season in Brasileirão, last year, especially during the first third of the season, where 'Leão do Pici' was dancing in the first 7 positions of the table. Fortaleza had also a memorable international year, having reched their first final outside the country, eventually losing Sul-Americana's title to LDU. As usual, Fortaleza reached the final of Campeonato Cearense, this year, but they lost it to arch-rivals Ceará, which is currently in Série B, which makes it even more painful for Leão do Pici. Fortaleza picked 8 wins, 7 draws and 5 defeats in current year, including an away win in Sul-Americana's first round match. In dugout, the Argentinean Juan Pablo Vojvoda will remain at the helm, extending his very long run at the club, one of the longest in modern day Brazilian football. It looks like this season Vojvoda is preparing a 5-3-2 formation, with a more direct approach. One of the highlights for the next season is the return of the always dangerous and pacey versatile forward Moisés. Kuscevic has made an immediate impact and established as a solid rock at the back and goalkeeper Santos is an exciting addition to add experience and quality for the defensive duties, even if João Ricardo has been the option so far in goal. Regardless of the good quality of those three main new signings, the fans will be mostly thrilled with the return of young talent Hércules, after he spent most part of last season out with serious injury. Fortaleza will probably miss Caio Alexandre in midfield, as the most important departure for 2024. However, Fortaleza has properly dealt with it by bringing Matheus Rossetto and Luquinhas. The 18-years old Kauan is looking sharp and ready to impress in the new season.
