Last Season, Canarinhos were able to get back to the top half of the table, after being 12th in the previous one. However, they were not as good as in 2013 or 2014 and weren’t able to get any continental qualification. With Fabiano still in charge and some (or should we say many!) new faces, it might be possible that Estoril come back this season strong enough to be in top-6 or even top-5. The problem is that their undisputedly best player was sold to Saudi Arabia. Leo Bonatini was linked to both Porto and Sporting, but the forward opted for a big money contract in Middle East. Also some important first-team players are leaving to rivals in the league: midfielder Gerson to Belenenses and full-back Anderson Luís to Arouca. Most players that signed in for Arouca comes from abroad and will need to prove their worth, but some names like Alisson Farías (from Internacional) or Eduardo Teixeira (from Fluminense) are promising new prospects for this season.

Target

Getting closer to European qualification and avoid moments in the season like last year’s start and end should be Fabiano’s main goal. Estoril is trying to create a statute of a Portuguese good, strong side that will always want more than a simple fight to avoid relegation. This season seems crucial to establish Estoril as a definite top-tier team.
