After already being settled to relegation in the middle of the season, Tondela started one of the most incredible comebacks ever in the league. After Rui Bento’s completely unsuccessful spell, Petit arrived in the team having left Boavista and brought some more willingness to Tondela. Not that the football was better played or even more organized, but at least the players were running again and fighting for every ball. That change in attitude kept bringing some good points to the team that eventually got a win in final round that gave them an emotive last minute save of the season. Lead striker Nathan Júnior left the team to sign a profitable contract in the Middle East, while defender Luís Tinoco joined União da Madeira. The biggest coup for the team will however be the departure of midfielder Lucas Souza. The midfielder was the best player last season and might be missed this time around. David Bruno and Zé Turbo in defence (both coming on loan), Cláudio Gonçalves in the midfield, Crislan and Murillo in the attack are the most promising signings for this next season.

Target

Avoiding relegation is and most likely will always be in next few seasons Tondela’s only goal. But they will surely want to avoid repeating the heart-attack, lat minute success of last season. The fact that Petit will now have a whole Pre-season to build on what he already brought to the team in last season might be a decisive aspect toward a more quite and therefore successful season, this time.
