Jahn Regensburg earned a respectable top half finish often playing exciting counter attack football especially away from home. Manager Mersad Selimbegovic will be hoping new forward signings Erik Wekesser, Andreas Albers and Jan-Marc Schneider can adapt quickly after the departure of top scorer Sargis Adamyan and second striker Hamadi Al Ghaddioui, both of whom were key figures last term. They were unable to tie down the long-term services of Asger Sorensen who impressed on loan in defence but have recruited Tim Knipping from Sandhausen and also the return of Dominic Volkmer from his loan spell creates a bit more depth in that department. The arrival of Tom Baack and Max Besuschkow can help bolster the midfield after the exit of Fein and Thalhammer both from their loan spells. Winger Florian Heister and promising left-back Chima Okoroji both come in to the squad. There is also a new first choice goalkeeper after the departure of Philipp Pentke, with Alexander Meyer taking the helm. Regensburg are built on solid foundations and have a manager who can get the best out of this group of players. It would be no surprise if they could upset a few big hitters along the way again this season. Their downfall could be that the replacements of big name departures might not be as influential and goals may not come as easily as last year.

Target

A top half finish should be achievable but they will need to improve their home form this time out.
