Wehen Wiesbaden enjoyed a successful season gaining promotion to Bundesliga 2 for the first time in 10 years. Doing so in dramatic fashion overcoming FC Ingolstadt in a relegation play-off. Manager Rudiger Rehm will know his team will have their work cut out to stay in the division but has recruited well in the summer to give them a good chance of survival. Defenders Mibner, Guthorl, Rocker, Niemeyer all come into the squad to tighten up the back line, which will be tested a lot more in this league. Marvin Ajani and Paterson Chato have been added in midfield and will look to gain more experience at this level, while up front Euschen and Tietz have been drafted in, both young and hungry. This youthful setup has been added to further with the loan signings of goalkeeper Jan-Christoph Bartels and two more defenders in Jakov Medic and Dominik Franke. Wiesbaden strengths are in their attacking play where they were top scorers in Liga 3 last season and it will be interesting to see how the impressive partnership of Schaffler and Kyereh plays out in the league above. Their weaknesses will point to inexperience at this level and, with quite a few changes to the squad, it may upset the rhythm.

Target

Survival from relegation is a must if they want to try a build for the future and establish themselves as a second tier club. If they can keep the momentum going from last season and start well they have every chance.
