West Brom's appointment of Slaven Bilic as new manager suggests they mean business. Bilic is a well-known manager who has enjoyed plenty of success in his career so far. But it does not seem like being an easy job after West Brom missed out on a Premier League return thanks to a play-off semi-final defeat to Aston Villa last term. Since then they have lost Dwight Gayle, who has returned to parent club Newcastle, and Jay Rodriguez who has joined Burnley. That strike force were a significant part of the club last term and will be a massive loss. Craig Dawson has also left for Watford. Filip Krovinovic should add midfield creativity while Semi Ajayi is a good defensive addition along with Darnell Furlong. Kenneth Zohore has arrived up-front and he may not offer the same quality as Gayle and Rodriguez had. West Brom do need further signings if they are to challenge, particularly in attack, and they could do with unearthing another star like they did with Harvey Barnes, who came in on loan from Leicester last term.

Target

Play-offs should be the aim, further progress would seem unlikely.
