Bristol City ultimately fell just short last term and it would probably be fair to say they lacked the know-how to win promotion. This summer has largely been a positive one on the transfer front. There will be a change in goal with Dan Bentley and Rene Gilmartin both arriving, Frank Fielding and Max O'Leary both departing. Tomas Kalas has arrived from Chelsea and he has vast experience of playing in the Championship. Tommy Rowe and Sammie Szmodics have also been signed from lower leagues, and City will hope their previous policy of finding gems will work. Yet there is still a niggling doubt that City lack the experience to compete in the top six in the Championship. They have a young, developing manager in Lee Johnson who remains a big asset and they will do well to keep hold of him. Johnson likes to play an attractive style of play. Under Johnson, City have been renowned as a side who do well on home soil. They will need to look at their form on the road too if they are to be a success.

Target

City will hope to finish in the top six but will need plenty to fall for them.
