Recent History | The 1984/85 seasons saw Norwich relegated from the top flight, but incredibly win the League Cup. The following season they would win the 2nd tier. 1992/93 saw the club participate in the first ever Premier League season. Surprisingly they were challengers for the title until falling away towards the latter stages and eventually finishing 3rd behind Aston Villa and eventual winners Manchester United. The following season was a different story and having showed promise in the early part of the season, Norwich endured an appalling post Christmas run which eventually saw them relegated. Delia Smith and husband Michael Wynn-Jones took over the club in 1996. Mike Walker returned to the club as manager having done so well at the helm in the first Premier League season, but he was unable to repeat that success. It took until 2003/04 for the Canaries to win the Division One title and make it back to the Premier League, but they were relegated once more the very next season. Norwich would drop down to League One in 2009, but would follow that with successive promotions to The Championship and Premier League under Paul Lambert. In the coming years The Canaries would continue to put their fans through the misery of relegation and euphoria of promotion as they earned their reputation as one of the yo-yo teams of English football. |
