Football Season Review

№22: Chicago Fire

After 23 years playing in MLS, Chicago returned to their city limits playing in Soldier Field for the first time since 2005. It was a roller-coaster season for Chicago which ended up just outside the playoff stage in a season that can be considered as lost. Robert Beric who scored 12 out of 33 Chicago goals (more than 33%) was obviously the best player of the team but, although he finished second on the top goalscorers list, he wasn't able to help Chicago entering the playoffs. Chicago didn't perform well in summer MLS is Back Tournament in which they faced Seattle, San Jose and Vancouver in a pretty strong group and finally they ended up at the bottom of the group and remained out from the knockout stage. The positive thing of the season was that players like Gaston Gimenez and Medran proved that they can be useful for the team and that they can contribute by far more next season. All in all, we can say that the 2020 campaign was for Chicago a lost season but they have settled the foundations to have a better next year when things will be returning to a more normal way and without squeezing the season.
