Football Season Review

№18: CF Montreal

Thierry Henry oversaw a difficult first season in charge of Montreal Impact as they had the worst points per game record in six years but still managed to make it to the playoffs where they promptly lost out to New England Revolution in the Play-In round. Montreal made a positive start to life under Henry, picking up four points from first two games while also winning in the Champions League, but struggled for consistency for the rest of the season as they failed to register back-to-back victories even once. A porous defense proved to be Montreal's biggest problem this season as they ended the campaign with the worst record in the Eastern Conference though the blow was softened a bit by some solid displays up front led by Quioto who ended the campaign with nine goals and also chipping in with five assists. Montreal looked set to miss out on the playoffs despite an expanded poor of qualifiers but two wins from their final five games ensured they finished just above the line only to be handed an early exit in the post season. Henry has held on to his job despite an underwhelming campaign and will need to find a fix to the leaky defense if Montreal are to ensure a far more successful campaign next season.
