Basaksehir finished 5th last season but well adrift from the top 4. Had the 3rd best attack – 60 goals in 38 games – but only 6 teams conceded more than the 56 goals Basaksehir allowed. Ultimately this saw them steal the last visa for Europe on the final day of the campaign. Krzysztof Piątek with his 21 league goals was the main reason why Basaksehir’s campaign was passable. The Pole has been sold this summer. His main back up Kenny and main starting partner Figueiredo also left. Coach Atan had to rebuild the strongest area of the team as a result. Veteran Da Costa (34) is a proven scorer in this league. Promising strikers Selke and Shomurodov were also signed. Between the 3 of them Basaksehir should have enough firepower to remain among the highest scoring sides. The main concerns remain at the other end. After dismal defensive record last term the Two-Headed Eagles are yet to make serious moves to strengthen their defence. If anything the departure of the disgruntled LB Lima leaves a hole that needs filling. The manager believes that young CB Hamza Güreler (19) is ready to take the next step. Pinning all the hopes on him is a risky strategy though. It seems more likely that Basaksehir will wait to see if they will make the league phase in Europe before they embark on late moves on the transfer market according to that demand.

Target

Hope to qualify for Europe. Top 4 finish is the goal.
