Giants Fenerbahce finished last season yet again 2nd. The 1st year of the Mourinho era offered more of the same. Despite staying full 20 points above the team in 3rd place and scoring 90 goals in 38 games the Feners were no match for Galatasaray and stayed full 11 points behind them. Mourinho started planning for this season early on. Veterans Tadic and Dzeko saw their usage shrink late in spring. They have both been released since. After scoring 20 Super Lig goals in his 1st year at the club Youssef En-Nesyri is expected to have an even better campaign this term. Also, the teammates at Al Nassr Talisca and Duran have been reunited now so Fenerbahce hope to have an even better scoring record. The squad Mourinho inherited wasn’t flexible for him to change formation. He eventually began to use his preferred tactics with 3 at the back and active wing-backs but it was too late in the season. Now the summer activity suggests this will be the main formation going forward. Added wing-backs Brown and Semedo, secured the services of the solid CB Skriniar permanently. Another CB used to be part of a back 3 Carlos joined last winter, so a 3-4-3 system is likely to be the 1st choice for most matches. Fred will remain the main engine in midfield. Amrabat partnered him well last season and the pair should continue to start often together. Bright young winger Aydin was hardly used up until last spring. He shone late in the season though. Mourinho hinted that this campaign Aydin will have a much larger role to play.

Target

The title is the only satisfactory goal. Anything else will be a failure.
