A summer that has been very uneventful for Brentford. The Bees start the new campaign with far less in the way of expectation on their shoulders than they had at the start of last season. The previous campaign was a bit haphazard but Dean Smith has had a chance to assemble his own squad. He was forced to sell Jake Bidwell and David Button due to "economic reasons" but the arrivals of John Egan and keeper Dan Bentley are certainly reason for optimism. Additionally highly-rated midfielder Romaine Sawyers has arrived from Walsall. Much will depend on both whether the Bees can keep hold of striker Scott Hogan and keep him fit. Hogan really hit the goalscoring trail at the back end of last term once he had recovered from a serious year-long injury. He will need a good pre-season if he is to be fully ready for the new season but there is certainly reason for optimism if his health is good.

Target

Brentford made the play-offs two seasons ago and will look to pull off another surprise by making the top six.
